Day 1:Arrival in Paro & Transfer to Thimphu Sightseeing

A guide will greet you at the Paro International Airport with a traditional white khadar scarf as a welcome to Bhutan. Have a picturesque 1.5 hours journey to Thimphu, the lovely capital of Bhutan.

Once you have checked in at your luxurious hotel, visit some of the main attractions like the Buddha Dordenma Statue, the scenic view of the valley, and the Tashichho Dzong, the government of Bhutan. During the evening, walk to the boutique shops in Thimphu, where local crafts, textiles, and Himalayan art are available.

Day 2:Thimphu – Local Monuments & Markets

The second day can be spent enjoying Bhutanese breakfast and visiting the Memorial Chorten, Folk Heritage Museum and School of Traditional Arts (Zorig Chusum) to observe how the ancient craftsmanship of Bhutan is being upheld.

Then go to one of the places where local people sell their organic products and crafts. In the evening, you may have to spend some time in the lobby of your hotel and have a cultural dinner with traditional Bhutanese dances.

Day 3:Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass – Punakha Dzong

On the third day, after breakfast, you will drive to Punakha, passing over the spectacular Dochula Pass (3,100m). On a clear day, the pass offers breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-capped Eastern Himalayas and features 108 memorial chortens (stupas) built in honor of Bhutanese soldiers.

Continue to the subtropical Punakha Valley to see the grand Punakha Dzong, which is located at the convergence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Known as the Palace of Great Happiness, it’s one of the most picturesque, historically significant architectural masterpieces.

Day 4:Punakha – Chimi Lhakhang & Punakha Valley

After breakfast, enjoy a scenic walk through rice fields and village trails to reach Chimi Lhakhang, the revered Temple of Fertility dedicated to the “Divine Madman,” Drukpa Kunley. The peaceful trail passes charming homes adorned with symbols of prosperity and blessings.

Continue exploring the Punakha Valley, known for its warm climate, fertile terraces, and serene beauty. Take a relaxed stroll or gentle hike to viewpoints overlooking the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers before returning to your hotel for dinner and a restful evening amid Punakha’s tranquil countryside.

Day 5:Punakha to Gangtey/Phobjikha Valley – Gangtey Monastery

On the fifth day: first have breakfast and then travel to the lovely Phobjikha Valley, which is among the most beautiful glacier valleys in Bhutan as well as a wintering location of the rare Black-Necked Cranes.

See the spiritual Gangtey Monastery, which is one of the oldest Nyingma monasteries in Bhutan. Take a peaceful nature walk through open fields and pine forests while breathing in the crisp mountain air.

Day 6:Gangtey to Paro—Scenic Drive

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Paro, retracing the beautiful landscapes of central Bhutan. The drive takes you through winding mountain roads, dense forests, and traditional villages, offering countless photo opportunities along the way.

Pause at scenic viewpoints to stretch and soak in the Himalayan vistas, and enjoy a relaxed lunch en route. As you descend into the Paro Valley, notice how the landscape changes from alpine hills to fertile farmlands dotted with rustic homes and monasteries.

Upon arrival in Paro, check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the evening at leisure—perhaps exploring the town’s charming streets or relaxing with views of the peaceful valley.

Day 7:Paro—Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

On the seventh day, there will be the climax of your journey to Bhutan. Take a hiking visit to the legendary Tiger Nest Monastery (Taktsang), 900 meters towards the valley atop a cliff. A round trip of an hour is awe-inspiring and provides spiritual satisfaction.

Upon reaching the monastery, explore its serene temples and absorb the profound sense of peace. In the evening, celebrate your journey with a dinner, complete with traditional Bhutanese cuisine and cultural music, a perfect end to your day.

Day 8:Paro – Rinpung Dzong & Drukgyel Dzong

On the eighth day, after breakfast, Visit Rinpung Dzong, an architectural masterpiece, in Paro. This wonderful castle-monastery is characterized by fine woodwork, religious relics, and a view of the valley. Then, proceed to the ancient Drukgyel Dzong, which was constructed in the 17th century to commemorate the triumph of Bhutan over the Tibetans.

It is in ruins, but it is a reminder of the power of Bhutan and a breathtaking landscape of Mount Jomolhari on a clear day. Then, later on, visit the quaint streets of Paro town, where there are local handicraft shops, or relax at your hotel, where the quietness of the Paro valley seems to envelop you.

Day 9:Paro—Leisure/Spa/Cultural Experiences

Take your time visiting Paro as you explore the Bhutanese culture. You can travel to the local museums and workshops of artisans or visit traditional farmhouses to feel the warm hospitality of Bhutan and their crafts. Try archery, the national game or even attend a Bhutanese cooking lesson to discover ancient cooking secrets.

To spend a relaxing afternoon, walk around the lovely streets of Paro, purchase handwoven textiles and crafts; or just rest in your hotel and enjoy the calm view of the valley. Complete a memorable day with a relaxing evening, while reflecting on your memorable journey to Bhutan.

Day 10:Departure from Paro

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey. As you bid farewell to the Kingdom of Happiness, take with you fond memories of Bhutan’s serene landscapes, vibrant culture, and heartfelt hospitality.
